Electronic Waste

These materials include complete units (e.g. servers, mainframes, telephone facilities, production units from semi-conductor manufacture and other sectors of industry), as well as subgroups of substances which are disassembled and sorted in advance.

According to the stipulations for specialised waste management companies and for primary-treatment facilities (according to the Electrical and Electrical Equipment Act – “ElektroG”), the sorting is carried out in fixed steps corresponding to environmental regulations.
Especially in this highly sensitive area, all staff are given specific training.

In our workshop for manual disassembly the harmful substances are removed and introduced to a prescribed disassembly process; then the individual subgroups of substances are separated according to their value. Recycling is the first concern for everyone here!

Leiterplatten Klasse 1a

This category covers circuit boards from PCs and mainframes including

  • Motherboards from older generations of computers (e.g. up to and including Pentium 3)
  • Plug-in adapter boards (e.g. graphics and sound cards)

They can be easily recognised by the large number of components (chips, ICs etc.), the large gold-plated connector sockets and edge connectors. The gold-plated surfaces are very conspicuous.

Leiterplatten Klasse 1b

This category covers circuit boards from later generations of PCs (e.g. from Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon onwards).

The colour of the board (e.g. blue or red) and also the colour-coded connectors indicate the difference to the higher-value class 1a.

Leiterplatten Klasse 2

ALKU E-Schrott

This category includes printed circuit boards from telecommunications devices and measurement devices, as well as from the automotive sector.

Here the quantity of valuable components (chips, ICs, etc.) is significantly smaller. Similarly gold-platings are in evidence, but much fewer than in Class 1.

Leiterplatten Klasse 3

ALKU Entsorgung

This category covers circuit boards from consumer electronics devices.

They have no or only very few low-value components (chips, ICs etc.). Most of them have other elements such as resistors, transformers, heat sinks and capacitors. Gold plating is extremely rare.

TV-Platinen

This category primarily covers printed circuit boards used in monitors and television sets.

The appearance and mounted components of the board are similar to a class 3 PCB, but TV circuit boards are assembled with a frame with parts made from iron or aluminium.

These are rear panels from mainframe computers and server cabinets.

The boards carry almost exclusively plug connections or pins with conspicuous gold plating.

ALKU gmbh Haushaltsgeräteentsorgung

Here it is a case of flexible or rigid frameworks and printed circuit boards without components from production.

These can be gold-plated both at the edge or on the circuit board. The precious metal content varies, depending on how heavy the blank is, how much gold there is and which technique has been used to apply it. It is recommended to take a sample of it and to get the content defined.
We can also recover frames and printed circuit boards completely without gold plating.

ALKU Netzteile

These serve the purpose of power supply and voltage conversion for computers. Their housing is made of iron and on the inside there is a Class 3 printed circuit board. Otherwise there are no components in these devices.

Here it is a case of PC drives for CDs, DVDs or disks. The housing consists of iron with aluminium; the interior includes a higher-value circuit board.

The hard disks also include a higher-value circuit board, but the housing consists purely of aluminium.

Used or defective waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is sorted according to six basic collection groups of WEEE:

1. Large household appliances, automatic dispensers, (e.g. washing machines, kitchen ovens, drinks dispensers)

2. Cooling units / air-conditioning units and oil-filled radiators (e.g. refrigerators)

3. Screens, monitors and TV sets

4. Lamps (e.g. fluorescent tubes)

5. Small household appliances, information and telecommunications equipment, entertainment electronics (e.g. mobile phones, PCs, stereo systems), luminaires and other lighting equipment, electrical and electronic tools, toys, sports and leisure equipment, medical products, monitoring and control instruments.

6. Photovoltaic modules
